I'm just about to get a second hand 1D Mark II. Until I get rid of my Tokina 12-24 f/4, will I be able to use it with the 1-series camera? Probably not at 12mm, but except for that?

I know it works on full frame from 18mm on, so I'd guess it'd work at around 15mm on 1.3x.

Yup. I've used on my film body, so that's how I know the full frame parts. Shouldn't be a problem on 1.3x, except for the vignetting wider than 15mm.

I don't see why not. I've used my EF-S 10-22, EF-S 60 macro, tokina 11-16, and sigma 30 1.4 on the 1D3 all without any AF problems.

There shouldn't be any difference in electronics between EF and EF-S systems. The differences are physical.

To be fair, the Tokina (and all crop lenses except Canon's) are all EF mount anyway, not EF-S.

Here is a shot taken with the mentioned combo at 15mm:

I also get a little vignetting at 15mm (removed here), but that's not a big issue.
