Ok it's a track day...but remote control cars get away with being in "Motorsports" so i'm posting these here !

Earlier in the week, fellow POTN'er "Petrolhead" (aka Peter) asked if i fancied covering this event with him. We've both attended in past years (on track) so i thought why not...On the first day we got something of a bonus when the organisers managed to get us signed on, so for the first time at Croft we weren't battling with fences and had access to parts of the circuit we've only seen from inside a car before...woohoo etc.

I also had orders from on high to get shots from certain areas with my 500 prime, So Mr Simon Harrison, some of these are for you..

1. X-Pack RS2000 kicking up cement dust after another car went pop..

2. RS200 heads into Clervaux...it's a replica but a damn good one.

3. That RS2000 again, approaching the hairpin this time.

4. A rather lovely MK1 Escort.

5. Cute or what?

6. Escort Cosworth. A couple of hours earlier this car had dropped the contents of its radiator all over the track..

7. The slightly less nutty of Andrew Gallacher's pair of mental Ford Focusses (Focii?)...the other one runs around 600Bhp.

8. And finally....the RS200 again.

Thanks for having a look. All the abover were with the 1DMK2N and i think i used the Sigma 500 f4.5 on all of them.

Cheers for the company Geoff.

Even I had a play with the monster. Must say I was very impressed and got some good results first time:

Nice pics! I need to get a pass/insurance so i can get closer ...I'm just from Darlington, so get to most trackdays at Croft. I thought the event was very well managed, but the advertising was shocking. I got a ride in my m8s clio 172 (the silver 1), which made my weekend.

Always a pleasure mate. Thanks for giving me the call earlier in the week for this one.
As i said to you, the 500 is the first lens i've owned that has "worked" for me straight out of the box with very little learning involved.

I've replied to your PM re access & insurance...unfortunately it's not that easy. Even after this weekend i don't expect to be on the right side of the fence again any time soon.

T'was a good day, made even better by the lack of fence-related intrusions :D

I suspect from a spectator's point of view it may not have been too exciting, but for Myself & Peter and those driving and getting passenger rides it was a damned good weekend. The only problem is i'm now thinking of putting the track brakes back on the car & buying some decent tyres...another expensive hobby ;)

Thanks for the comments everyone :)

It wasn't advertised as such but it's an annual event. Next major event is the Rallycross this Sunday :D

Frustration's a terrible thing ;)...i fell lucky when spotted my 500 though. I'm sure one will turn up pretty soon for you. Might be worth a post in the "Wanted" section on here?

Just for everyone's information, i've moved the images to my usual host so the EXIF is now visible.

The first shot of the black RS2000 is fantastic, its stance, the dust and the expressions on the faces of the occupants. It looks like there was some nice cars there.

Cheers
Ian

As soon as they put the dust down i had that sort of shot in my head Ian. For once i was in the right place at the right time. I can still taste the cement dust though

Thanks for the comments :)
