Good Lord! Marcia and I were out at a flea market near Garmisch, Germany, and among other things they had this. I was speechless. It's a coatrack, or a hatrack - I'm not sure, but either way I was stunned.

Okay so it's not the most aesthetic shot I've ever done, so I'm not quite sure what sort of critique might expect, so just comment anything you can think of.

BTW - It seems a little dark on this monitor as compared to the monitor I processed it on, which is weird, because they're both calibrated with the same Spyder.

actually there is a good chance that is what is called "Black Forest" word working. It is from a region of Germany famous for exceptional wood craftsmanship. (http://www.google.com …rest+furniture%22+germany (external link)) The style of the leaves are a potential indication of it's origin as is the staining. Then again it is also one of the more imitated styles around so it would be impossible to ID it w/o handling the piece.

Anyway, in the correct setting I think you could have had a wonderful picture. And even as set there I like it a lot.

Sometime google "deer antler lamp" deer hoof hamp", "deer leg lamp"...feel free to substitute in table, bench, stool...pretty much anything you can imagine. This style goes over big in the most rustic areas here in the US. Cripes I have even seen a real Heffalump foot table (that is Elephant Foot for those non-Winnie the Pooh fans out there). In storage I have two black bear rugs which are over 100 years old but I cannot sell because, well, there were no such things are hunting tags at the time. So they sit and one day I'll find someone to give them too for their cabin or whatever.

Am I seeing things or is there a dog with a paintbrush in his mouth in that scene?

But where is the Elvis on Velvet "painting"?? Maybe one needs to be from SoCal to fully get that one...but for a while I do believe they were the main export from TJ. ;)

There are probably hunters looking at this thinking - 'Cool idea'.... I mean, a four coat rack from one deer? What a deal.

Bob,

I am not sure if you are ernest in your question, but if you mean the thing behind and to our right, well, that's a bunny carcas. Yeah, Marcia was thrilled at that.

Oh, and good catch on the Schrodinger reference. Humbled to say that I didn't even think of that. Updated. Thank you.

Could be a coat rack or a gun rack. Would you rather they just trow it all away? Most hunters try to mak euse of as much of the animal as possible. deer skin gloves, maybe a guncase, antlers on the wall, a gun rack, whatever. Get over it. Meat doesn'r come from nature in sealed plastic.

Are you in the right thread or is that a favourite rant? :)

Kinda tough to work that into my personal style but I'm sure Hannibal could use it for something. :)

It's always nice to see what centuries of refined culture and art can produce;-)a Garmisch-Partenkirchen is lovely, though, in a disneyland/storybook kind of way.

When I first looked at the pic, I smiled.

When I read this post - well that's the best laugh I've had for a while.
