Well I am up to the point where I am set to go and ready for some good work. I wanted to know where do you mostly aim for as far as advertising. maybe you are set now with your clientele but where did you start? I do have a web site and i have myspace with about 100 friends which i make bulletins and all. but i wanted to really get some phone calls instead of close family and close friends... thanks

Fabian

Too broad a spectrum, you will be percieved to be a jack of all trades etc etc

I would suggest that you advertise your wedding and portrait photography as you have a greater chance of being found by someone looking for one of those services.

For everything else, advertising is a waste of money as you are up against those who go direct to the bookers through emails, mailshots, agencies and so on.

yes i understand what you mean, since i started off i kinda figured i would just be open to any type of photography and start from there... then down the road see what works for me, as now 4 months later i see that i love sports and fashion and model photography, weddings arent bad but could be a pain in the butt... but i know word of mouth is the best.

True. Advertise what is bring in the most customers. BUT, have business cards AND a web page for each of the others, too. Buy them by the 1,000 & pass then out like popcorn?
Networking, previous clients, & just being seen & talking to people will bring in a lot of business
