First try using only makeshift white background and a 430EX with a index card as a diffuser. I have just ordered a 580EXII and 5-1 reflector and will expand on that.
Luckily my daughter was a willing model but unfortunately direct sunllight ended up coming through glass door by her feet.
Any comments or suggestions on how I can improve?

This is my best shot with only minimal PP.

Exif Data: Sigma 17-50, ISO400, Manual, 1/100 f3.5

The eyes are great -- not so sure I like the pose (feet coming out of head, etc) or the composition (hand chopped off in the bottom right had corner and a little too tight for my tastes). Keep on practicing!

I usually check for cut off limbs but missed the chopped hand. I thought I might be a little to close but I keep reading about "filling the frame". Will definitely give it a go.
Thanks for the CC

This photo I didn't like as much but I think it does address some of the problems of the last one with composition but I'm not sure about her eyes been in the middle of the frame.
Am I on the right track? Is it okay to cut of elbows?
