Car Rig shots INSIDE a car.

I need some ideas for how to mount a camera for a shot i want to do.
What i want is a camera rigged towards the back of the car inside shooting wide (24 on 1.3 crop). My main problem is the car will need to drive at 60km/hr in normal traffic.

What i have is:
1DMkII
24-70L
Manfrotto Super Clamp
Bogen Magic Arm

Need some ideas on how to mount it inside?

What about wedging a tripod into the back seat?

Most cars also have an attachment point for car seats, you might be able to tie something off to that as well.

Dont really have a tripod stable enough. I could wedge a lightstand in and put it through the second hole on the camera mounting plate on the magic arm?

What sort of car do you want to put it into?

What kind of car do you have? There are a lot of mounts out there for in-car, most designed for video, but will work just as well for stills.

I have a bar in my car like the one Moppie mentioned. Its primary purpose is to help stiffen the chassis, but it comes with an integral camera mount. It attaches between the upper mounting points for the front-seat seatbelts. My car is a convertible, so the upper mounts are not on the B-pillar, they are a lot lower (so it makes more sense).

Either a 2007 VW Golf or a Mercedes E Class Wagon. It doesnt mater the inside will be silhoutted.

Just how flimsy is your tripod?

It held a non gripped 40D and 17-55 not a 1D and 24-70. I could maybe wedge my monopod between the doors and clamp onto that?

I have no materials or tools to build it before the shoot tomrow night unfortunately

Then I have the perfect solution (albeit, a temporary one)

Go to your local hardware store and buy an expandable shower curtain rod. Not the spring-loaded one, but one of those that you screw out. They have a rubber foot on each end and use friction to mount securely to your shower walls. The more you screw the two halves out, the tighter it gets.

Unless you are going off-road or over some really rough roads, I think it would hold a camera body and a reasonable lens.

Now all you have to do is figure out a way to attach a mount to the bar. If you have a tripod head, I would be willing to bet you could find a clamp at your local hardware store (do the Aussies call them ironmongers like the Brits?) that will let you attach it..... A clamshell conduit clamp of the proper diameter would probably work. Then chose a bolt to attach the two halves of the clamp, and make sure it is the right thread for your tripod mounting screw on the bottom of the camera.

Makeshift, but I think you could do it with a little effort.

u can make a headrest mount with 2x4's or aluminum tube depending on the tools u have

or use one of ur superclamp and clamp it to the head rest post
