ok.. i just recently got a studio kit.. 2 box lamps and an umbrella (with a light).. so i have 3.. the lights have two modes.. full bright..and half bright.

im an aviation photographer having alot of problems with it.. what settings on my camera do i use to make pictures pop.. or look somewhat professional..

im shooting F/8 1/200th.. iso 100.. AWB

when i move the shutter speed up.. the picture has a fade to black.. the faster the speed.. the more the pic is covered by a black glow..

any help would be great :) thanks :)

a light meter is always a sound investment...although just starting out it might be a little daunting...
but the fade to black you speak of probably is because your flash sync speed usually will only be up to 1/250th of a second...faster than that the "curtain" of your shutter is being caught in the flash exposure... head on over to the lighting part of this forum, as most would say, grab a cup of coffee and start reading the stickies on the basics of studio flash, there is a wealth to be understood...
good luck and keep shooting...

You don't say what you have & I think that some older flash heads need a slower shutter speed.

To get started, try my 1-cent flash "meter" in images 5S & 6S.
