It looks like this is the most appropriate place for these, which were shot Sunday at the Rally of the Giants radio control meet held for the first time in Camada. Unfortunately the weather wasn't good for 2 of the 3 days but I went on the final day to see how well I could do, and I think I did better than expected. It's my first attempt at models even though I used to build & fly them years ago. The majority of the static display photos are from a 5D and 17-40L while all flying shots are 1Dmklln with the 100-400 L IS and I simply can't say enough about the AF capabilities of that pair.

You have some very nice shots there. You might consider embedding up to 8 (Image Posting Rules). You might find you get more comments that way.

Try as I do I just don't seem to be able to do that anymore. I used to be able to with mixed results but for reasons I can't figure out it hasn't worked in several months. I just tried twice to add 4 photos but only the url's came up on screen after I submitted.

what might be the easiest thing to do is click the icon in the post box that looks like a mountain, in the pop up paste the link of the photo from your Picasa. If you don't know what the direct link to a photo is; simply right click, select properties, copy the URL

Cool shots. I don't see the big deal linking to another site. Its as easy as clicking a button.

I fly R/C Helicopters. mostly aerobatic, 3D flight. Fun stuff. Planes are VERY easy to fly. Helicopters not so much. But very fun.

Some of those jets hit 300+ MPH.

Re the helicopters, I looked into going that route many years ago when they first became popular but cost & time commitment was out of my range, but I really enjoy watching them. I had no idea that the jets could go that fast and the owner had remarked that the restricted flying space (to stay close to where spectators were seated) was keeping speed down, but 300 MPH would have way beyond my skills to photograph it too. I'll try again using my work computer (Win 98 based) and Firefox. That didn't work either.

Thank you, I now have learned a whole new way to do it that works. I don't know why the previous way no longer works for me and it's been a PITA trying to solve it. Thanks again, Larry.

Nice shots. I used to fly RC planes all the time until I got my hands on a helicopter. Now my planes are just collecting dust.

Thanks, my planes are doing the same but for a different set of reasons. Firstly people went & built homes all around me (I'm in farm land) which took away my field because I could hand launch from the back yard but it wasn't big enough to land in (rookie pilot). The other reason was a bit more expensive then but has dropped to where I may go out & buy the new radios since mine has been totally banned due to it's old wide band frequency's. I'll be looking into that very soon.

While editing the full set of flying photos (I'm giving them to the club that hosted the event) I noticed this photo really confirmed the accuracy of the camera / lens AF system. Take a look at the reflection on the wing showing the script on the fuselage. I don't think I could ask for anything better.
