Hey all

So I went to the indy speedway today and shot some photos of the redbull GP test runs. A guy from a local bike shop approached me and asked me if he could use some of the photos for advertising...

How much should I charge him??!

Thanks in advance. And here are just a few shots I got

Yamaha + Michelin

Need more info about usage - in a store, in a magazine, if they want to resell them or give images away, etc.

Yeah they didn't really make that clear at the track. Any thoughts on any of those things? Store? Magazine? Resell? Billboards? I just sorta want an estimate on what is reasonable and what is outlandish...

The bike and tire manufactures may want a licensing fee. If you're making money off of their name, they expect to also.

There was a case where a Mustang club was forced to stop printing a calender with photos of Mustangs.

If the bike manufacturer discovered the photos after they had been licensed to the advertiser and used; Would the photographer, the advertiser, or both be liable?

I would be careful posting an image that you intend to sell to somebody on an open forum like this. I understand that you have a copyright signature on the bottom of the pictures, but that would not stop somebody from still stealing your picture and using it without your permission. Especially with how copyright lawsuits are going these days, it would be a hard battle to win. I would recommend putting a watermark over the image in the future. All of your pics above are great and would be easy to be saved and used without your knowledge. I'm just looking out for your best interest. Good luck in your sale.
