I'm not even sure this is the right place for this, but hey, we have model cars and model airplanes threads, how 'bout model spaceships? Playing with that darned addictive DIY lightbox some more and wanted to try something different. I kind of liked how these were going. These are still works in progress (about two hours photoshop total), I guess I'm just wondering if the idea's worth the effort and electricity bill, or if I should just move on. C & C always welcome, thanks for looking!

Space 1999 Eagle Transporter, 12 inch diecast model shot in the DIY lightbox, combined with some ps, and some moon shots I took last year.

Those look pretty good! But I think it's WAY too clean!

These are still works in progress (about two hours photoshop total),

I don't know why it should take that long? I shot something like that in camera on film w/double exposures & it took about the same amount of time. This may help:
Video tutorial on using the Extract Filter, Alpha Channels, Layer Masks using Selections, using Levels to adjust the Mask, & Blur Tool on the Mask edges. (external link)

Have you thought about making your own book? // Need an exposure crutch?

Thanks Frank! The ships have to be brand new at some point right, I should've added a window sticker and dealer plates:D. Just kidding, I just hadn't gotten around to photoshopping weathering yet (weathering...in space

)

Thank you very much for the tutorial link, that will come in very handy! These were done the hard way, I'm afraid I'm still a photoshop noob. The first two were done with black cloth behind and below the ship in the lightbox to make the blackness of space. the third had the black cloth pulled up to the horizon line to reveal the white paper underneath. The moon was added from other pictures I took and the rest is hand drawn in photoshop (like I said, noob here!)

That is probably the best tutorial I've ever seen on the use of the Extract tool!
