My first sunset...

I was in the passenger seat when my girlfriend and I were blinded by the sun on our way home from the mall. I thought it would be interesting to see what would happen if I shot the sun. Because it was so bright, I didn't notice the clouds until I saw it on the lcd screen. This was shot through the windshield of the car, which I presume caused some of the glare spots.

I think the EXIF data is in tact.

oh, nice...I was gonna ask if you had a UV filter causing the flares but it was the car windshield? is that something a polarizer might be able to help with? Though in this case might an ND filter help more?

I don't own a polarizer, so I don't know. If the flare was more aligned, I think it would have been the type of shot that I'd like to frame for myself. Maybe if I spent some time in photoshop, I could fix it. I kind of like it, except for the upper left spot and upper right smudge.

Very nice! I think that some of the stuff you see is likely internal lens reflections. Other than the really blurry smudges, I am guessing that the spots are too well defined to be from the windshield.

I tried to get "...out damned spot...out..." It's not great but maybe someone else can fix it gooder than I did.

Thanks. I was going to edit out the glare/flare spots, but didn't get a chance to. Did you use the smudge tool? I used the healing brush tool and got the following result. To an extent, I like the flare - it was only two spots that I didn't like.

oh, wow, I like yours MUCH BETTER than mine. I too like the bit of flare in it...I used the healing tool, clone tool and the healing tool again to try and blend things a bit better. I just had not clue how to keep it in the pic...

I'll have to try a hand with just the healing tool again. Practice, practice, practice...if ya don't enjoy practicing, then it's the wrong hobby, right?
