Ahh, from the images ive seen, seems like the 498RC2 can only be tilted left and right but not back and forth? doesnt seem like much room on the ball to to move back and forth.

Any one who has the 498 or used it confirm if the ball can be tilted 45degree back and forth besides sideways or tilted to what degree?

The head itself can be panned 360 degrees. Then the ball itself can turn 360 degrees. So all you need to do it just rotate the head so the slot lines up with what your trying to shoot then move the camera forward all the ways to 90 degrees so the camera is facing the ground or backwards another 90* so the camera is straight up.

A 9 year old thread is the best review I have seen of this tripod!! Thanks for the in depth review. I am looking at this leg set on ebay at the moment. Can't afford the carbon fibre right now, so looking at a used set if these. Thanks again,
