So I switched from Minolta/Sony about a year and a half ago to Canon and love this system for sure but have to say that the Canon lens caps have been a constant thorn in my side, I fricken hate em, to me, for my fingers.......they are just retarded.
I've been griping to my wife about it just about every time we're somewhere and I'm either trying to get one on or off and you have to take off the hood and it just plain pisses me off that they don't come with pinch caps. So I'm browsing ebay for accesories and remember someone here mentioned just getting Nikon or Tamron pinch caps...Well, found some HongKong special "Canon" pinch caps and I must say they are great!!!!
Anyways, for those who dislike the Canon OEM caps as I do...Don't wait, as I did, they're fairly cheap and they say Canon on them and they work and I love em.....Just get em, they are sooooo much better.
OK, I'm done

I hate the OEM caps also

I don't like the OEM lens caps because they are side-pinch. When I bought a used 300mm f/4L IS lens which was mint except for a broken cap, I looked on eBay for a new cap. I found Chinese knock-off (almost) caps which were center-pinch instead of side-pinch. The center pinch cap is easier for me to put on and remove when I have the lens hood attached.

I was able to buy four Chinese caps (which have Canon emblazoned on the front - just like the OEM models) for the price of one OEM cap. I replaced all my OEM caps. The Chinese caps work just great!

When I am shooting, I will also often use OPTECH Hood Hats in lieu of lens caps.

Yep, got the HongKong pinchcaps (there are a few different ones) for all my lenses.
I also made horizontal scores with a knife on the pads (where you pinch) so that its non slip.

I've got a bunch of these myself. I used an X-Acto knife (or a razor blade) to slice off the cap keeper loop.

Sigma used to have the same caps as Canon, but apparently they heard the cries for change, and now it seems they are all Nikon/Tamron style. So it's Canon playing catch up again...

hahah, I wouldn't call it catch up, though. It isn't like this is a technology issue, just laziness... or a desire to use a large existing stock.

I am OK with the Canon caps on the lenses I have. May be they have been designed just for me

Pinch caps are good for getting down in the hood. Other than that, a cap is a cap.

agreed. I could use one on my 70-200 f/4 with the hood on, but other than that the rest of mine are fine.
