Hey there you guys. I'm hoping you'll be able to give my new site a quick look over. It's not finished yet, but far enough along to see if you have any issues with it.

The site is best viewed in FireFox, but if you try another browser, please let me know if you ran into any issues.

Thanks for everything,
Bob

The site is:

PS- I've been having a few issues with the host, so if it doesn't come up at first, please try again later.

Have checked out your site Bob and it looks really good..I'm using IE6 and no probs whatsoever..If I had to nitpick one little thing, it would be on the guestbook page..it would look better if the name box was moved to the right, bringing it in alignment with the other boxes..a very minor detail..
But good work!

Hey Bob,

The order of photos in your nature gallery are a bit wonky. Not sure if they're dynamically generated or if you're hard coding them, but when looking at the thumbnails the 3rd image is actually the first when you're viewing the larger sizes and using the "next" links.

And do people still use guest books these days? Better to allow people to comment directly on your photos I would think :)

Thanks you guys.
The guest book might end up going if we can find a way a add comments below the pictures (thanks for the insight Soup), but right now that is proving difficult. If we end up keeping the guest book, the info fields aren't going to be displayed like that (they will be in link form).

Were also working on the picture issue, so hopefully we'll get that solved.

Is the text on the site easy to read so far (font, size etc)?

Thanks for all the help and keep the comments coming.
Thanks
Bob

I'm a stickler for grammar and punctuation. On the "Contact" page, there should be a colon after "I can be reached by the following means" instead of a period. Also, you spelled "fell the need" instead of "feel the need."

Additionally, if you look at the "Gallery" page, then you'll see that "Robert S. Irwin Photography" in bold letters is not centered and is not the same sized font as the "About," "Contact," and "Guestbook" pages.

Lastly (although this may be only a matter of taste), my screen resolution is set to 1028x768 and I have to scroll down just a tad in order to view the entire home page. I would prefer it fitting neatly onto my browser when it is maximized so that I don't have to scroll down.

Otherwise, the website looks very clean and professional. It's easily navigable and intuitive. I like it very much. Sorry for the criticism, but I was a web site designer in a past life.

Thank you VERY MUCH Reign.
That is exactly the kind of feed back I'm looking for.

We'll look into everything you said, and most likely end up changing it all.

Thanks
Bob

No problem. I'll keep looking at the site and will let you know if I see anything else.

Thanks Art,
Were trying to sort that out.
We want to put the comments below the pics and get rid of the guest book, but were still having some trouble with it.

Thanks
Bob

Looking with FF 3.0 (color management is worth some issues). The site looks OK but...the banner and footer are much too large. Your photos are compressed in the middle. I believe people want to see pictures more than anything, especially on a photo site.

The pictures look good and the site moves quickly.

The main thing that I don't really like is that on your gallery pages, one has to scroll down to see the images...I find that really annoying and distracting. You could put the whole bar at the top on the bottom instead...that would require some major rearranging though.

The grey color on the fonts in that top nav bar are pretty hard to see, maybe use a darker grey?

Again, the font...you may want to use something more unique. I'm of the distinct opinion that Arial is completely overrated, but that may just be me.

Hey there you guys,

We made some changes to the site, so hopefully it's a little better now.
Were still having some trouble with the host, so don't mind the speed if it's slow.

C&C are welcome as always.
Thanks
Bob

PS- Both the guestbook & photo comments should be working, so feel free to leave a reply if you want.

Thanks
A friend of mine is a graphic/ web designer so he was kind enough to make it for me.
Pretty sure it was a mix of CSS & XHTML or the like, there may have been a little PHP.

I can find out for sure if you really want me to, as the above is just a guess.

Thanks
Bob
