Michael, how's the Mac going??

Sweet!! It's running the LR2 Trial great and CS3 is super quick! I have rebooted once since I got it, and that's because the power went out. No problems at all, and I am very happy with the screen, the gloss doesn't bother me.

Excellent... Is it easy to calibrate?? I have a spyder 2 and just wondered if it adjusts nicely. Also, do you have a dual monitor setup yet??

Does anyone know if it is possible to send Sigma lenses to Japan for service? I have no confidence in CR Kennedy in Australia.

Not sure Dan... Have you had bad dealings with Kennedy's previously??

A friend of mine did and every time I have heard the name mentioned since (on POTN and various other places) it has had a complaint attached.

Doesn't really instill great confidence in their service.

Just wondering if they feel safe? Also which brand or plates and clamp do you use? From what i can see there isnt much to stop a lens sliding right out?

Very safe. When the screw lock is tightened I'd break my tripod from the effort of trying to make a lens fall out before it slid out.

I use a Markins QR screwlock shoe, a Markins plate for the 20D and a RRS L-plate for the 1D. I can take photos of the system if you like.

How do you mean there isn't much to stop it falling out? What sort of system are you using at the moment?

I use a giottos system now but i feel unsafe as the level to release the plate has no safety catch etc, (Well it does but it SUCKS) Would love a pic of the plates on the 2 cameras to see size differences etc. Also worried about my 300 sliding out.

There's a safety catch on the Markins QR shoe.. I'll whip up some photos in a minute.

Er, have been distracted from photos by a project - went to set up a couple of white sheets of paper as usual to take some photos on for a white backdrop and thought "bugger this"... the result ->

IMAGE: http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3264/2737016223_a824c58f8f_b.jpg

Made from the arms of a broken clothes hanger, some duct tape, some leftover pure white velvet backdrop, one clamp, a short piece of PVC piping and whatever free space I have laying around. The light coming through the back won't be much of an issue as I usually take photos like this at night anyhow...

Now I just need to make a couple of little stands for diffusing light into and I have an instant-setup light tent :p I'll take photos after lunch, Angus :p
