Nice rig.

On a side note: you have exactly the same Officeworks desk as me :D

Really? Good desk, innit! I picked mine up secondhand, though, had no idea it came from Officeworks :D

Was it someone called Maja? I was also thinking of asking if she would prefer another shot because the one I took was a spur of the moment thing and I was in a hurry to get home.

I guess asking for a free book wouldn't be out of the question...

It would seem a free book is all they're offering.

Thanks for getting back to me.
Books on our Australiana list do not have budgets to support professional photography fees, and for this reason, the payment I could offer you would be a free copy of the book and, naturally, your name would be credited next to the image. Would you still be interested in contributing to the project?

Do let me know and many thanks

Somehow, I'm not that interested any more ;-)a

Damn Australia Post! Was just sitting at my desk and heard what sounded like a small car crash out the front.... no.... turns out the guy thought he'd just lob my charger and eneloops over the 6'10" fence onto the deck... idiot

But thanks Clarence! They are here (and thankfully look unharmed :p)

Can you call up Australia Post and lodge a complaint at the deliveryperson?

That's pretty bad Banno.

Obviously it was getting too late in the day for the poor guy :p

In other news, gotta love wireless broadband.

I'm sitting in a doctor's waiting room, unseparated from my beloved forums :D

Alright Angus (and anyone else who's interested in AS plates and L-plates)... here's some piccies:

Markins Arca-Swiss plate for 20D:

Sitting in the clamp with the clamp to the rear:
http://farm4.static.flickr.com …37173245_61d633d1f6_o.jpg (external link)

Clamp to the side (I find rear more convenient but you can do it either way with this shoe/plate combo):
http://farm4.static.flickr.com …38009806_b1645365c2_o.jpg (external link)

The plate itself - note the lip at the back which prevents the plate from sliding or rotating when attached to the camera.

20D plate compared to the 1D L-plate:

Edit: Too many photos, I turned them into links so the thread would look less cluttered:

1D L-plate:

http://farm4.static.flickr.com …38008898_c9e1390e37_o.jpg (external link)

Looks huge off-camera but once you've attached it it doesn't add that much bulk and only ~180g...

http://farm4.static.flickr.com …38009240_102f375571_o.jpg (external link)

http://farm4.static.flickr.com …37173943_3938b8818f_o.jpg (external link)

Using the vertical slot:

http://farm4.static.flickr.com …37174653_a398875bd1_o.jpg (external link)

Very secure - my heaviest lens and camera hanging off it without the slightest bit of slip:

http://farm4.static.flickr.com …37174089_c2893acd61_o.jpg (external link)

As far as the locking pin goes it clicks into either of the circular holes on the bottom of the 20D one and stops that from moving should you slide the plate sideways.. for the L-plate it just stops against the inside of the curved end pieces.

You're studying town planning? My brother does that too!

Yeah, its not too bad so far (only just started my second semester of first year). We just started doing a lot of the actual drawing, which would be good if i could actually draw

There's actually three, there's two on the right printed one on top of the other - "Dreams", "A-minus-minus" and "Braille".

Any benefit to the Markins setup over the Manfrotto apart from the ability to mount sideways? I would have thought the screw clamp would be a bit fiddly whereas with the Manfrotto QR system it's quick and simple lever action.
