Hopefully their clothing is better than their straps - I had one fall apart on the 40D - and managed to catch the camera as it fell to the ground - the mount on their straps needs to be welded on ;)

Yeesh - that's a bit of a concern. I haven't had any issues with my Domke straps yet... they feel really quite firm.

The POTN ones (OpTech) are great, too.

The LowePro one was quite good on the shoulder - didn't slip along the shoulder - but, unfortunately, the strap slipped through the buckle and it was all over (and I had actually read the instructions - which weren't any more difficult than the E1 handstrap instructions).

The Domke ones aren't particularly good on the shoulder - they're notably less broad than the Canon strap. I bought them to be used as wrist straps, which they're brilliant at... the only times I ever have them around my neck is swapping lenses or for using 2 cameras for 3 songs and they're more than comfortable enough for 3 songs..

I tend to use the handstrap mostly now. Each camera also has a POTN strap - but they really only get used if I am carrying more than one camera and there isn't somewhere handy/safe to rest the other camera(s)

Either through habit or paranoia I've kept using both; I was in the habit of using the neckstrap as a wrist strap (wrapped around twice) before I found out about the E-1, and now I find it weird to use a camera without the E-1... but still wrap the neckstrap around the wrist. Can't do it effectively with a comfortable strap like the Op-Tech/POTN strap as it's too big... but boy, they're comfortable around the neck!

Lowepro does a clothing range? ;) Assumedly they're photographer-oriented gloves?

hehe, yes they are photographer-oriented gloves.

They also do Lowe Alpine clothing, I have one of their jackets. Warm but lightweight. Not cheap though.

I prefer the original Canon strap. I use it as a handstrap so I end up wrapping it around my hand/wrist anyway - I want a handstrap that doesn't need a battery grip!

Then buy a tripod mount plate for the camera that has the handstrap mount point on it

Ok, I was watching Fight Club earlier... Fell asleep about 20 minutes in.

The thing with the porn frames spliced in... is that something that the characters of the movie do in it, like is it part of the story, or is it on the actual movie. I swear I saw things flashing on the screen. I'm gonna have to go through it frame by frame now.

Yeah it's part of the film, he actually explains how and why during the film... bout 2/3 in from memory. Funny as

How is it? They are starting to offer them at the office for our new work phones (we get a choice between this, a blackberry or some futile nokia thing)

Nice photo - nobody thought anything about the photo I posted earlier? Disappointed.

I did~! I just wasnt here to tell you! I think that the angle is ok, but perhaps try over exposing a little bit... I shoot most of my bridge shots (Port River) between 7pm and 2am. The better ones were actually about 2:30am Friday night. Have another crack and see how you go :)
Good work catching the truck cleanly though, that is often pretty hard to get the nice clean lines

Awesome shot Spam! That is really nice

So it looks like a 1Ds MkII has passed from one POTNAC member to another ...

I wonder who the recipient is?

It's cold, it's wet and it's white...

It's either very soft hail - or light snow - and it is falling in my suburb right now.

I have two of the Lowepro straps, the one on my 30D is perfect, but he one that I got for the 40D is cr@p and kept slipping through the buckles. I was fed up with it and replaced it with an Optec one. I must have caught the camera falling at least three times with the Lowepro strap.

Cooler day here today but nothing like you guys are getting, we'll get that about Wednesday from the forecast.

My 20D's AS plate has several slots for attaching the E-1 and similar straps - it adds only a very small amount of size to the base of the camera and has the added benefit of attaching it to my tripod :D
