Anyone getting orders from the US - keep plenty of wiggle room with your $1000 margin with the exchange rate going down, Customs calculate based on the day it arrives too, not what your bank charges. Otherwise you'll cop a 10% + $40 customs fee.

My margin just went down to $25, hoping the rate doesn't go down on the weekend before I get my stuff!

edit: make that $10.90 for US$785.

Not true, They are meant to do it based on the day the invoice states.

Ah,
Good to know, I'll probably find out for sure on Monday if the rate goes down again.

Sometimes though, you order, but the shop doesn't process the order for a day or so too, happened with Adorama - ordered the day exchange rates were excellent, but by the time everything was done, the rate had gone down.

Date of export can be 1-3 days from order date, depending on how many planes it takes to get out of the country & processing time.

That's a total crock. Basing it on anything other than the invoiced amount is highway robbery, IMHO.

Could go either way, though - if the exchange rate shot up inbetween ordering and the point where they assess it it'd be to their detriment ;)
