Looks good. I can only see 2 people and they look like they'd be fairly easy to clone out.

Cloning as we speak ;-)a I took a couple of exposures so I've layered and am just masking out the people.

Neat way of putting the ND400 to good use!

Thanks - yesterday's shoot involved Cokin filters (ND8 x2 + ND4 + Polariser) and it a) didn't cut enough light and b) had a really bad purple cast - looked cross processed.

Dave,

did get weird looks taking you camera into the pool area? Or did, the "RELAX I am a professional photographer" T shirt do the trick to appease the guy+camera=pedo mindset!

Amazingly, no-one asked what I was doing, even when shooting the kiddie-pool.

Well this is by no means high art, or for that matter finished (got some pp to do to it yet), but it's a 30 sec exposure with an ND400 and a Polariser.

Basically, the client would prefer not having people in the shot, but they also want to minimise shadows across the pool (thus midday-ish is a good time to shoot). Alas, the pool was opened before I could get in and shoot it, so long exposures were the go.

Kewl stuff... Very strongly considering getting two ND400s for that midday long exposure thing. Unfortunately 77mm filters are pretty pricey.

Eh? !

Went down to the local gardens to do some IR. I was taking pictures on the edge of the pond when this duck waddles up to me and starts making grunting noises at me. Next thing I know, he's chewing on my ankle.

Not sure if he thought I was taking too much of an interest in his mate or if it was an attempt to hold me down and shag my leg... either way he wasn't giving up. Eventually shoved him off and made my exit.

He's pinked up my ankle real good and got pond scum and duck spit all over my trousers

Winamp ftw. Been using it (on and off) since the Windows 95 days. WMP is just too non-intuitive.

Nice shot! Always liked long exposures with clouds visible. How does the number after the ND translate to stopes of light? I can never understand it.

It's the inverse logarithm of something or other.

I'm looking for some input on options for an upcoming shoot.

I need to shoot a small group of people on the entrance of a "lighted" bridge during late dusk and night. The lights are poxy coloured things that don't really give a lot of illumination but are integral to the shot.

I will not be able to use a long exposure and no tripod (don't ask :eyerolley:) I will be able to use on camera speedlite; I will also *probably* be able to have a light off camera.

The goal is to have the people nicely lit, the bridge lights all pretty and the background "visible" not just a black blob, but so it's clearly nighttime.

Edit - groups: 2, 4, 5, 7, and probably 9 people. I'm guessing that once we start they will also realise they want a big group shot on the dumb bridge too - and that's going to be 50+. For the big group, I don't expect to be able to have everyone perfect, but if I get the major players and the rest just *there* that will work for me!

I have some ideas and I'm heading down later tonight to have a play so I'd love to hear your suggestions to try out!

Kristin
