Curiouser and curiouser.

I have 6 batteries with me now (I had bought a spare set for the 40D) so I'm not too worried - just surprised.

Mind you, my 5D has a few foibles - it was one of the early 'demonstrator' models (thanks, Teds, you bastards) so I should expect a few differences.

Hrmmm, Trust TEDs to do that (Take Every Dollar). Camera House FTW.

Started a thread re my battery issue.

lol @ 'differences'.

What camera are you experiencing these battery problems with? I know with the battery grip for the 30D, it didn't like some lens and battery configurations...

man you must've had some weird 30D :D HAHAHAH what's with you guys?

I just use genuine batteries, genuine grip, genuine lenses, and dont' seem to have any issues...

you guys have all the fun issues :)

IT was a known problem with the earlier revision of the BG-E2, it had battery transmission problems. they corrected it in a later revision of it.

yeah - I decided, with the new one, to only use genuine Canon batteries...

so it has 2 - and I had to walk for a week cos it was either batteries or a tank of fuel ...

It wasn't only transmission problems - they did a total recall on it - all you had to do was LOOK at the camera and the grip disconnected...

yeah I know the one. when i got my 30D, it was already resolved (gold contacts)... though I never heard of it affecting lens combinations...

mmm yeah... that's what I remember... and even if it was out of warranty they replaced it (as far as I could remember).

but again, that wouldn't affect certain lenses in particular would it?

I ain't gonna make any comments on lens connections and stuff - I do not want to jinx anything - there are way too many reports of ERR99 on 1D3 cameras for my liking - and I still have that flaky 24-70 - which is working just fine...

dammit - now I said it...

Do you guys shoot that much that replacing the battery when the indicator is flashing is a problem with just the one battery in cam?

Not me, I actually don't like the BG, I don't want one. :p

However I find that shooting long exposure shots really chews up the battery... i.e. my lightpainted car series ends up with at one battery gone.
