Hi - i'm new to this thread but have been around the forum a little while. I've done a few searches and there seems to be a distinct lack of Darling Downs photographers on PTON, that, or they are all closet photogs or maybe uninterested in the content available here. Regardless sometimes it would be nice to chat to someone about photography who lives in the same city as yourself and faces the same challenges.

Hi Mark?, welcome to the club. There is a thread for Brisbane (and south east queensland photographers) on here as well that is always pretty lively. We have people from all over in there. Probably the best way of potentially finding someone from the same area (or close enough anways) ;)

People not interested in 83 pages worth of package tracking discussion? Never!

Geography 101 for benefit of the Southerners:

Nearest beach from Darling Downs is a good two hours away.

Try "sunset walks along the sun-parched dams, uninhabited by water"

Need to buy B&W film in Melbourne

Good day! New to this thread. A semi-serious question here. I'm staying in Melbourne, specifically around the Doncaster area. In recent days I decided to buy myself an old film P&S to experiment with B&W film.

The biggest mistake I made with this was to assume that I could get virtually any kind of film (for cheap) at Ebay. How wrong that was. I need ASA 400 film that can be easily developed at any shop. There's others that can only be developed using a special method and I don't know how practical they are.

Most of the Ebayers will not ship overseas. So I need to seek some help and advice from the folks here who still use film.

Where can I easily get B&W film at a reasonable price? I tried a few online websites and their prices look exhorbitant, in the order of AUD8 for a roll of film, although to be fair, it's good film, Ilford or Tri-X stuff. Are these typically the prices I need to contend with or can I actually get film at a cheaper price?

I don't exactly want to spend 100's of dollars on film alone.

Hope some kind folk here will be able to help, otherwise my B&W project will be dead even before I can get started.

I handle film all the time. It's fun to play with, and even more fun when something goes wrong... Although it is motion picture film so it's a little different...

I have nothing useful to add.

Hi fWord - welcome!

I'd chat to Spam (see up this page) who has used film recently, although he is Brissie based. He may know of some online options though.
