Still working on getting used to the new 40d. So I offered to take my buddies car out and shoot some pics.

All shot with a 50mm.

Critique is appreciated.. I feel as the pics are a bit soft. Lighting was not optimal.. Nor was location.. so there is alot of glare..

No ctitique love?

1. A bit to centered and the horizons are a little crooked (easy fix in PS).
2. Nice DOF and perspective. You might could have gotten a little lower and shot a little tighter (of course you were foot zooming ;)). The reflections aren't bad. A CP would have helped a lot.
3. Horizons are a little crooked, I like the lighting and the reflections are fine in this one. Could use a tad bit more DOF but probably the best of the set.
4. I like what you were thinking here with the garage door framing the car. However, the door being open and the fellow in the shot kills it. Exposure is good though.
5. Better composition in this one, as you applied the rule of thirds. Good shot.
6. Exposure and DOF are nice in this one, the reflections are a little strong though.

Good job taking the vehicle out an getting some practice with the 40D. I look forward to seeing more from you.

Love the shots, you must have perfect roads where you live to drive a VW that low.

Nice pics, lovely colours, nice motor, you used a 50 mm lens? that will be about 80 mm on a 40D wont it?. Did you get a cheap or expensive one, thinking of buying a cheap 50mm soon :D Any thoughts

Thanks guys... Car is on air ride so it can be driven at any height...That is slammed/park mode...

As for the 50mm. It is a Canon 50 1.8. Best $100 I've spent on the camera by far. Absolutely love the lens!

You've gotta clone out the white line in the road, it ruins the pictures, with that out, you've got some nice shots.

We were actually going to take some rig shots of his car last night... But didn't. I have shot quite a few tracking shots of his car though.. Just not with the new Canon which I am excited to try :)

Never really tried panning. I'll have to give it a go sometime!
