On page 6 of the owners manual, there's two options on connecting the PW to the camera.

On Option 1: PW into the camera hot shoe

Option 2: Connect the PC1 sync cable from the camera's PC terminal to the port labeled CAMERA/FLASH.

So, my question is, if i opted for Option 1, do I need to connect the PC1 sync cable to the camera? Or, does the hot shoe nut from the PW have a contact unit directly to the PW so that I don't need to connect the PC1 cable?

Stick it on your hot shoe and it will trigger when you press the shutter -- no cord from camera needed.

See that's what I thought but it wont work. I can't trigger it from the hot shoe.

When I press test, it'll test fire but when I press the shutter, it wont fire.

Make sure you have the PW facing the correct way on the hot shoe. The controls should be facing you when looking at the back of the camera.

No problem I did that myself the other weekend and couldn't figure it out in the longest time... such a silly mistake too.

It will stop when the center contact pin is actually in the center of the foot plate (actually an easy mod to do) ...sometimes you actually might want the PW controls facing front.
