So it's been about a year since I started taking sports photography seriously. Worked for the school paper, internships at a local weekly and now a semi-local daily, and am doing some sports freelancing.

Just bored at the moment and hoping some of my wonderful fellow posters could tell me what they think.

You don't have to look at all of them. One, two, three, or all 19. Don't care, just hope you have as much looking at them as I had taking them.

Anywho... located here:

Be harsh. Be nice. Whatever!

Thanks!

OK, I looked through them all and my first impression is really good. Nice mix of action and jube shots. I like how you got both faces and ball in most of the action ones, and captured the best emotion in the jubes. The one thing I'd say is that if you want this to be your sports portfolio, then I'd mix it up more. Those shots show a strong bias towards hockey, and could leave an editor wondering about sending you to cover, say, soccer or lacrosse.

Thank you!

I actually shot hockey not as a result of avoiding other sports, I just happen to live in central Minnesota.

I've covered soccer and lacrosse, but not too much of either.

Sure, just if you want to use this as a portfolio, a lot of potential editors will look for diversity in your work. Just a thought.

Ben:
I've always enjoyed your hockey shots as they are nicely exposed and capture good action. I find that we usually better capture those sports we are familiar with and passionate about, which is why I shoot hockey and baseball and your focus so far is on hockey. Keep up the good work!
Chris

I actually realized that I don't have any baseball/lacrosse in my portfolio. Will see if I have any worthy.

Seriously, thanks for bringing that up!
