Yeah, considering they just hiked the prices on lenses not too long ago!

You are right about the Sony camera. I think that it would really sell well if it were a canon or nikon, but Sony just does not have the advertising or market share in the camera world at this point. They are starting to get there though. I do like the Sony version of Live view, and if that were an issue for me I may have thought harder about purchasing the a700 rather than the 40D. Another good point, is the internal IS(or whatever they call it), but since I like to do wildlife shooting I would rather have IS in the lens so that I see a still image in the viewfinder. This is just a personal preference though. After researching 6 months for a camera I can honestly say that everybody is producing solid cameras. To me it just comes down to which camera feels right ergonomically, has the most friendly interface, and the best lens selection. For my needs(mostly future needs) the canon fits the bill.

Boy this is fun seeing Canon's ego crushed like this. Nikon did a great job at it. Can hardly wait for Sony's turn next :D
I just got a brand new 5D for the price i paid for the 20D 3 years ago out of this :D
So now i can sit back, grab some popcorn and enjoy the show. Competition is great!

I doubt very much that Canon's ego is taking a hit of any kind. They have their next cameras in the pipeline, and they didn't just crawl out from under a rock.

I wonder how many times the 5D replacement has gone back to the drawing board. I hope this doesn't send it back again. ....

I don't think it has gone back at all. I think we all thought that the 5D would fall on the 18 month schedule the crop cameras do but clearly the full frame cameras are on a 36 month schedule. Therefore the new 5D is due this September, just in time for Photokina. Book your flight to Germany early and be first in line to handle the new 5D.

Actually it will be interesting to see if some of the rumors are true and we not only get a new 5D, but a 3D as well.

Not sure why, but call me JJ.
