Thanks everyone. Burnside sounds like it is not a good place to practice skate shots, and I think what I will do is just practice at a smaller skate park and then build up some confidence and go shoot burnside.

Growing a beard and throwing in some earrings prob isnt a bad idea either. Maybe put my hair in dreads? Haha

Tattoos. Get some ink... :D

There's no need to say that. Please show some maturity.

No, he's actually correct. If you stand up straight, act confident, and don't back down, they WILL leave you alone.

The fact that he is correct does not mean that he has to say it like that. If he had stated what you just wrote, I wouldn't have had a problem. But if my original post had been "grow some balls", then I think that some people might have had a problem. The point is to help the OP, not to tell him to grow a set.

I usually snap away and often they come to you asking for a copy. I'm not sure how "rough" the crowd was on the park stated by the OP but most will appreciate having their pictures taken in Action.

Given that, I was quite happy just snapping my kid do his "little tricks". Here's a sample:

Just tell them you freelance for Transworld....I skated for 15 years before injury laid me up....think of them like a biker gang...looks rough on the outside but once you get to know them, they are most likely cool people...

Yeah Burnside is a pretty rough place, and these guys really dont care about getting a print back from you. They have people coming to shoot them for magazine and advertisements all the time so i am not important to them.

Not sure how we are getting off topic about whether or not i have a pair. Its not that i am scared of these cats, its whether or not this was a normal occurrence. I know burnside is unique and from now on i will prob just avoid it until i get bored with smaller parks.

I would say burnside is not the best place to learn or practice at for a noob in skating photography.
