Hello,

I've been providing DVD slideshows to clients and selling copies of them and of video projects as a service as well.

My current setup involves a 24inch iMac, with 4gb Ram, and I am burning to my internal superdrive AND my external firewire Lacie dvd burner simultaneously (daisy chained to a lacie hard drive, then my computers firewire 800 port). I just completed 50 copies in this manor without any problems.

I have a big deadline coming up, and I am considering running to B&H tomorrow morning to pick up a second Lacie firewire burner so I may finish sooner.

Does anyone on the forum have experience with a similar setup? I need to keep my firewire Hard Drives and Optical drives daisy chained to the 1 FW800 port, but can an iMac actually handle burning 1 internal and 2 external DVDs simultaniously?

Any comments or words of encouragement would be greatly appreciated :)

Ok... I answered my own question. If it matters/interests anyone, I had no problems burning to my internal and 2 external daisy chained firewire burners simultaneously.

In fact, the externals were so much faster, I was able to finish the montage project ahead of schedule.

I did not experience any slowdowns/coasters/etc, and the firewire drives never suffered a performance hit.

All in all, I believe this to be a more cost effective option than duplicators when the time arises.
