So what do you all do with the useless cards you get with a new camera? Do you throw them straight in the trash or toss them in a drawer or closet never to be seen again? I was just cleaning out my closet and ran across a number of useless cards and I was thinking why don't I just throw them away. I even have some smart media cards for pete's sake. I'm too much of a pack rat. Why in the world do I have 16 and 32 MB (yes megabyte) CF cards laying around.

Wow...some people actually want those oddly enough although I keep mine in a drawer. Not sure why, but they're there.

Good Idea Rene.. I have given them away to people that use lower res PS cameras and they are extreamly happy. I load thumbnails/compressed images to let others look at them.. If you get creative there are things that can be done with them.

I have an Olympus c4040. I cant get rid of it. It has a f1.8 lens that works really well. Cf cards stink but when that's all the camera take what choice do you have? If you wanna get rid of them I will pick up shipping.

I gave a few away to a guy that could use them in his GPS. They have other uses beyond big megapixel cameras.

If you have to go to a photo lab to print a single photo (30MB Tiff)
just load it up and give them the card, then you can always re-use it again.

at least you dont waste a whole CD or have to give them a usb drive.

I guess they do have some uses, just not in the cameras they come with. I guess they figure if it's the buyers first camera they will give him something to play with until he gets a real card. I say just box them without a card and put "Memory Card Not Included" on the box. I put the 32mb card that came with my XT in to see what it would hold. Best jpg = 7, Raw = 3

I always keep a 64MB CF in my bag just for the hell of it, as if it will be useful in some emergency one day. But since it only holds 4 images RAW it's kind of stupid now that I think about it :D

I do the exact same. Works a treat! 256MB Card and only 120kb taken by custom functions, always in my bag.
