My missus loves this fragrance so I took this shot for fun and giggles. Hope you enjoy. CC welcomed.

Cheers,
Mark.

very nice capture. How many tries did it take to get the reflection on the aftershave in the drop?

This is not the best of the bunch. I have a selection, the top ten, which have everything absolutely pin sharp in the bubble. The only deciding factor then is for the degree of spherical symmetry of the top element.

I will post a behind the scenes shot I took. Basically it entailed a home made light box made from polystyrene, a glass of water, a bottle of water with a pin prick in it to create a regular drip and a shed load of patience. In total yesterday I guess about 1000 exposures to get the sphere just so. I used a pointer with a noticeable rubber end to set focal distance. Lens wise I used a Tamron 90mm f2.8 prime with Canon MT24EX flash gun. The reason I used this flash system was that as it has two independent strobes I could position these within the flash box to get the best from the image.

PP wise consisted of levels, contrast, some unsharp mask, saturation levels and saving for web. This is a heavily compressed crop of the original.

BTS Set-up as shown below. The only thing missing is the water bottle at the top. I was refilling at the time. I also used an electronic cable release to reduce as much as possible any camera shake. Mirror was not locked.

Camera settings: ahhhhh, now that would be telling :D

Cheers,
Mark.
P.S Remember to invert your target item due to the refraction of the water acting as a lens.

Thanks for the comments. It's encouraging to get positive feedback.

Parmcat - The lens I used is mentioned in the BTS posting: A Tamron f2.8 90mm Di Macro prime. Working distance from the water was 1 ft + - a couple inches.

Cheers,
Mark.
