I've got eight of these flying across a pond, kind of a blind squirrel scenario.
They are of better IQ than this uncroped, downsized, 21MP image indicates.

Sorry, info not available via opanda.

Would like some direction with regards to PP and turning them into objects d'art on the wall.

You need to bring focus to the heron.

I tried to make the heron brighter than its background, and used a blur vignette to keep the eye from wandering too much.

Was anyone else expecting this to be a photo of George Bush in a superman costume? ;)

LD, how did you lighten the Heron and how would you crop this image?

Irreverent, and I thought that Johnny Carson passed away.

;)

Back on topic - here's another approach at the same subject, going for an overtly PP'd look. It's quite a challenge to clearly define the neck and head of the bird from the background, but this was the best I could do in the short amount of time I gave myself to try.

I used viveza for some rough lighting changes. Then I used dodge & burn to bring some more shape to the heron while darkening the areas around it further.

This was a hard one to work with because of the initial quality so hopefully you can go further with your original using ideas you get here.
