gads.. that quote sounds like one or two X husbands!

... no, really, .. after being self employed for over 20 yrs, one thing we've learned is that "Free has no value".

In one of my businesses, we deal with different culture practices. Though we've made some friends, we DO understand that many business cultures ARE different compared to ours. You need to stick to your guns (your written policies) and do NOT feel badly about it.

I know it can feel insulting.. but they're not emotionally involved in the transaction .. that's just typically the way they do business. Try not to get upset... stick to your policies and learn to say "no" with a professional friendly attitude.

Exactly -- It took me a while, but in consulting if you must give away the advice to sell, then the advice was worthless to the prospect.

Free = no value = no sale, and walking away is the only good option.

I'd rather work at McDonald's than do low-money quickie photo shoots like this. At least you can pass the troublesome customers off to the manager and let him deal with 'em for 9 bucks an hour. Doesn't require much thought to stuff fries in a baggie either.

At any rate, I'm proud of you Joey. You grew balls. :)

Did you lose Digital Photo Professional (DPP)? Get it here (external link). Cursing at your worse-than-a-map reflector? Check out this vid! (external link)

I respect any photographers right to run their business any way they want, but I see something like this, and it makes me even more resolved never to try and figure out the cheapest way to offer my services. And, of course, to have everything in writing up front.

Sorry to hear about all this craziness. Reminds me of when my wife worked at Glamour Shots and hearing about thier customers. People would always come in and expect a lot for nothing, especially with the prices they have there. Thankfully the wife and I haven't ran into too many of those characters yet. Most of our clients have been easy to work with. (knock on wood)

Give her the phone number of the local Walgreen's. Probably get three 5X7s for 12 bucks or less.

You can buy 5x7 prints from costco for...$0.39 plus tax each? They're not bad either, especially for the price.

This thread makes me want to stop trying to deal with the public. I still have a debt from a co-worker for 30 dollars for editting and printing. So tonight I deleted their files and let them deal with a different service!
