all focus points and Depth of field

when you select all focus points, is the camera just trying to focus on the items with in the given depth of field? ie, if your at f2 looking the face of a dogs face, it's not going to be able to focus on all the parts of the face because of the depth even though all focus points were selected?? is that correct?

It's going to first try and focus on what your center focus point is on. If it can't find good contrast, it will use the other points to find something with good contrast to focus on.
