I have the 200AW and it handles my stuff pretty well with a little room left over. It looks like you might add a few extras to what I have and I too would suggest going to the 300, that way you have room to grow. Besides, you will always find something else to throw in the bag.

The 200 is a good size bag to carry around (about perfect for me). I wouldn't want to get much larger. I could see myself moving up to the 300 though and stopping there.

Just to confirm, If I have a Rebel XTi with a 70-200 F/4 mounted (hood reversed) it will fit in the Slingshot 200 AW without removing the lens?

In another forum someone suggested the length would be a little shy of what I need.

Thanks in advance!

I have a 40D with a 70-200 f/4, hood reversed and it will fit into my 200, although it is very tight width wise, where you zip the bag closed...

You...
Just question marks is pretty cryptic, at least to me.
So....I questioned your question marks. :)

The problem I had was that I could fit my 100 to 400 in there while on the camera, but when I switched lenses I couldn't place the large lens in the bag.

They make the sliplock bags to house larger lenses........but once I have to start hooking bags on the outside I think it will be time to upgrade.

Hi All,

I tried loading a Slingshot 200 and 300 with my 5D, 24-105L, 70-300, and 580EX II. I walked around the camera store for a while with this load. I kind of thought that it was uncomfortable with just the one strap. I tried one of the similar-sized Tamrac backpacks with two straps and it was a night and day difference, much more comfortable. When I reduced the amount of gear (minus the 70-300 and flash), the Slingshots were much more comfortable. So, I haven't decided which way to go yet. I'm 5'9", 160 lbs and in average physical shape.

Seems like it might be wise to keep the load lighter for these SS bags. Wearing a fully loaded one with the above gear might not be very comfortable for me on an extended basis, especially on a warm day.

I have the 300. I sold the 200 because of the problem I stated above. I have found it to work very well as long as I wear the belt.
IMO, hanging stuff on the outside is just too ungainly.
Lately, I have used a hydration pack for my longer treks and just stuff the gear I need in that. Sooo.......

Tumeg, if you're still thinking about the slingshot 200 I was in Costco yesterday and they had it for $69.95. B&H price is $89.95.

It was the only camera bag I saw there.

XTi with that lens should fit in that bag. 40D with that lens fits. It's tight, but I can close it up no problem

You may want to touch a 300 first :)
It is "BIG".

I find it perfect for my purposes, but I've read others saying it is too big. For parks and zoos it is perfect. For indoors, it is very "out of place" because it is HUGE.

Also, you will have all (most?) weight on your right shoulder which takes a little getting used to - the waist belt supposed to help, but does not seem to help with me - doh :(

Bag is big enough for one camera with grip (30D, 40D, etc ...), 70-200 f/2.8L IS with hood reversed (tripod ring off), 580EXII, plus box for six lens (100mm, 24-70, 17-40, etc ...) with hood off. You can put all the hoods in big section at top of bag with tripod ring.

One complaint (minor) I have about the 300 is that there is nowhere to attach/hold a tripod/monopod - none that I can find/see.
