Hi there, I have the above flashgun and when switching it on, the display shows

ETTL MZoom 14mm

It's stuck in manual mode.

I have read the book which say to press the Zoom buttom and then to rotate the dial. I have tried this, but it is not coming out of the manual setting .

Can any please advsie how I can get this out ?

Many thanks

The wide angle panel is out, at least partially. Make sure it's pushed all the way in.

Curtis is psychic, he diagnoses the problems. I have telekinesis, so i've pushed the wide angle panel back in for you remotely.

So, did you use a PW or a Skyport to do that or did you just use an optical slave trigger?

i had two of these 580ex's where i pushed the wide panel back in, it triggered something inside and the flash was fooled into thinking the wide panel was still out.

the wide panel motor would run constantly...

canon fixed them both.

Thanks, Tim. I'll watch that video a couple of times (he did have a couple of good jokes there :) ) and see if I can learn from it. He's very good at keeping his jokes very simple so that just about anybody can get the punchline. :p
