Need help with the Manfrotto 488RC2 Head

I understand that this lever helps me when shooting panoramic shots. But i swear i cannot get it to work, either im having a stupid moment or its not working right. Can someone explain just exactly how this works???

Ehm, turn it CCW (towards the camera in this pic) to loosen it, then you can rotate the camera without altering the tilt of the ballhead.

Or do I misunderstand the question?

ah very cool, thank you. I got it now! i just didnt know if you had to pull it out as you turn it.

The lever can be repositioned by pulling it out, rotating it, then allowing it to pull into another detent in the shaft. This feature lets you have the lever where you want it to be when it is tightened.

Some folks have trouble loosening the pan lock lever because they (or someone else) tightened it too much at one time or another.

LOL...I am glad you posted this and not me!! J/K...i nearly had the same moment until I finally got it!! I love this head and tripod...and my new POTN remote....I am all to excited to shoot more!

yeah i think the hulk had tightened it before i got to it, i need to hit the gym man

This is so classic. I think we all did it before we figured it out. I love that ball head. It's the one I use the most.
