I'm a motorsports photographer usually and am planning on making the trip to RIAT 2008 depending on the weather. We are thinking of going on the Thursday or Friday for practice and arrivals mainly because of the cost and the lower numbers of people. My main question is are they good days to go for a first time? If so what’s the view like from the car parks? And which is best East or West side? Doing a bit of research we are thinking of the east side as the plains should arrive from that side as it's against the wind.
Also any other advise would be greatly appricated as i have never taken shoots of plains before.
If it helps i'll be shooting with with a 350d, my 70 - 200 F4 L and a 1.4x extender.
