Hi all..

Its been a while. I haven't been doing much bird photography lately. What little photog Ive been doing has been related to outdoor sports. I just got back from a vacation on Cape Cod where I happened to shoot this blue jay.
(got some great surfing shots too)
I've never been able to get a good shot of a jay so getting this one is a nice addition to my bird collection. It's a pretty heavy crop taken at ISO 400 so I ran it through Neat Image to clean up the background.

I may post a surfing shot on the sports BB but the one shot I really like show's the surfers face clearly and I don't have permission from whomever it is. Any thoughts on that? I suppose I could distort the face but that may ruin the shot.

Hope you're all doing well.

Henry

Nice peek-a-boo shot. Is this a juvenile?

This is definately a little Juvie Blue Jay. Cute little guys. :)

You can post any shot of people anywhere as long as there is no expectation of making money on the image, like in these forums. No one has any expectation of privacy when they are in public, so no law stops you from taking anyones picture or posting it in a forum.

Thanks scrumpy. Mitch has confirmed it's a Juvie. The day after I took this shot I saw a young blue jay being fed by its parents. Could be this one.

Thanks Mitch and thanks for the thoughts on posting my surfing shot. I will definately post it. I've heard from others exactly what you said.

Here's a shot of one of last years Juvies (external link). He's enough like yours to make me pretty sure yours is also a juvie. :)

There is a discussion in one of the street photography threads that explains what the laws are. What I quoted was for the US. Apparentloy other countries are much more strict. :)
