Hi All

Does the soft case that comes with the 100-400 have a belt strap or shoulder strap?

I am hiring one soonish and if necessary, as I really wish to buy this lens sometime, will buy a Lowepro lens case but if the Canon softcase is carryable then there is no rush?

Oh, which Lowepro lens case is the right/best one ideally one of those with the "Sliplock" attachment?

TIA for any insight :)

Hi!

I've take you a pic of one of mine two (same case for 70-200 and 100-400). You can use it both ways with shoulder strip or on your beld as you can see...

Have fun with this beautiful lens...

No straps that I remember seeing but it has belt loops.

It should come with a shoulder strap that you can attach... At least mine did :)

Mine came with a ridiculous excuse for a "shoulder strap" about 5/8" wide. I'll pay 1 million dollars to anyone who can stand to carry it for 10 hours straight on their shoulder while wearing a T shirt.

Actually, in my opinion the entire case is a joke, considering what the lens is worth. I ditched the whole deal, and use a "formerly owned" padded case that one of my ebay Nikkors came in!!!

I now use the factory Canon case for my Nikkor 180mm F2.8, which I occasionally still shoot on the Xt

The strap shown is actually LARGER than --wherever it went to that came with it--

Yea the canon case is kinda pretty, but I would never use it for travel. Get a Lowepro case!

Thanks guys for all the feedback.

So the Canon case maybe OK for the situation of the period of hire but for the longterm plan of owning one a Lowepro lens case is king ~ which size (part number?) works best? Having said that I am tempted to get a Flipside 300 (?) bag to replace my Slingshot 200AW ~ the Slingshot has been good but has its oddities and would not take the 100-400 anyway, so maybe a "case" of a lens case is £20 but 2.5x that (must check the prices) I get the Flipside. Oh, but why no AW double version of the Flipside???

I will do one better, I will do that, but only if I can keep the 100-400 instead of a million. This is a total savings of $998,600.

Canon's idea of a shoulder strap is just a glorified heavy duty nylon shoe string. What a shame for the price charged. A $1400+ lens with a $10 case and a 50 cent strap. Buy something to protect your investment.
