considering that when the 383 were available it was going for $79 at BH. Now that the 383 is on back-ordered status the price is $89 at BH... so I would say less than $89 is a good deal for used 383's.

If they have to manufacture more it could take weeks or even months before they're ready. Then again they could turn up tomorrow. My thinking is that we may as well give up on any new ones being available. That's a damn shame! I just saw the website, it seems that I won't be getting any more new 383's to play with my existing ones... • Wedding Photographer - Sydney and Wollongong

It was a tossup between them and the Vivitar, so just get those instead. Not much difference really. Or get one of the other cheap flashes, just make sure it has a sync port. But, that website citation adds little to the actual reality as it has been incorrect for so long.

Well that is certainly POSSIBLE. And B&H does do that (buy all the remaining stock on a closeout). But two years worth of stock?

Warren, I think the Vivitar 285HV will be in production for the foreseeable future. I mean, they brought it back from the dead recently, most probably because of the "Strobist" demand. If they went through all the trouble of bringing it back, I think they will milk it for all it's worth, and with no competition it could be worth quite a bit! • Wedding Photographer - Sydney and Wollongong
