Sunpak 383 replacement???

according to the strobist blog the 285HV has a low sync voltage. I can't confirm, just what I read.

Sunpak would have to be insane to discontinue the 383's. Think about it. Old technology, no R&D, no retooling, high demand. They could produce more and up the price with the current demand. Of course, a new, simple, modern flash unit with PC socket and optical slave built-in would be good too.

Call them insane then, it is on there web page that they are discontinued, and No one has said anything about going back in to production, other than rumors.

Once again, the 383 does not seem to be discontinued despite what Sunpak/Tocad indicates.
