canonloader Cream of the Crop More info | Jul 06, 2008 14:17 | #4 Blacks are great aren't they? I am so glad I bought CS3 instead of a lens, it's got a great blacks slider. Did you add vignetting? Either way, this is a great shot. You'd probably have to lighten it some for a print though. Mitch- ____...^.^...____

canonloader Cream of the Crop More info | Jul 06, 2008 15:09 | #7 Another word for blacks is shadows. A good program can detect where a line of pixels of different colors meet, and that is a line and a line has shadows, or blacks, that can be manipulated by a good program. With the right amount of blacks dialed in, it can make an image like this one jump off the monitor which is why we all like it. Mitch- ____...^.^...____

It might draw the eyes into the picture through the tunnel . . Might look good Whats a good photo: Is it pleasing to the eye?

canonloader Cream of the Crop More info | Jul 07, 2008 12:33 | #12 and you explained in a nice, simple way I should have included, lines and shadows associated with them can't be seen with the naked eye. They are only one pixel wide and they are all over a digital image. A program like CS2 or CS3 can find them, and with the use of a slider, adjust the luminosity of the adjoining differently colored pixels to make them stand out from each other. Theres a lot more to it that I don't understand, but that's the basics and kind of explains why you see what you see and how it got that way. Mitch- ____...^.^...____
