I think it is. It explains a lot about all of Canon's lenses. You can buy it from various of the online camera stores. You can also read it on the internet. Here is the link

If I were you, I'd call B&H and have them send you their annual DSLR catalog with all the available stuff in the world! You will read that thing from cover to cover and still can't get enough. There is a huge section in there for Canon gear with reviews that are quite helpful. Otherwise, this sticky may be all you need:

And I'm serious about it. IF you want to buy a lens, someone has written about it here in the forum. Do a search or ask someone and you'll be glad you didn't buy a book. People actually use those lenses here. Also, when you see members' gear lists, you will know who has what and you can get a feel for how they shoot.
