Quilt colors tend to washout in bright sunlight; this one was taken under cloudy and windy conditions. The quilts frequently fell off this fence and had to be re-duct-taped. The shot was taken with a neutral gradient filter and stopped down one stop. Blue and yellow saturation/luminosity were adjusted to bring out the washed out sky color. Red and orange saturation were adjusted slightly to bring out the quilt colors. Gaussian blur (2 pixels) were applied to both the foreground and background; to help emphasize mid-ground detail.
1. Here is what I like about this photo. The quilt surfaces are not flat, yet surface detail and color are still observable.
2. Too many distracting elements, like the stop sign.
