You're certainly not the only one, I know exactly what you're talking about because I ran into that issue when I considdered a grip for my 5D. I will still likely get one, and I'm totally counting on adjusting to the different size, it will just take some time for sure

when i got a grip on my 350d it felt so much better, mostly on my right hand, i used to have my pinky or 2 fingers hanging off the right grip, just felt alot better, more to grab onto with all fingers.

left side hasnt bothered me at all, i use my fingers to zoom, which ive never been bothered by.

my neck and arms get bothered from the weight the most, even with a potn strap, just gets sweaty

I have very large hands and using a grip has not been a problem. But, if I held the lens palm up in my left hand, I might develop all sorts of joint problems in my arm. I tried it and it really made my shoulder hurt.

Strange - I have a long term problem with my left shoulder and have no problems holding the lens palm up. It seems to put very little tension on the shoulder, unlike holding it the other way, which feels like it's causing a little strain. Still, the world would be dull if we were all the same :)

for me, I can go both ways.... don't mind the grip b/c I usually rest the grip on the left palm and use the thumb and index finger for zooming so that's no problem. BUT sometimes when I took the grip off, I do feel that I have the camera more firmly in my hand though, b/c the entire lens rests on it. Does that make sense?? :S

I've never thought about it, and I've always had a grip (detachable or integrated) on my cameras, so I guess that means I'm not bothered by it. I do have rather long fingers though, maybe that helps.

If I don't have a grip on the camera my right hand isn't comfortable though, it sort of slips underneath the camera.

Did I mention that my knuckles also drag the ground? :)

Is "anal-retentive" spelled with a hyphen?
