You can get arround the flash problem by having a html landing page. Put on it about 3 paragraphs of what you do and who you are, being very descriptive, then a "enter the site" button at the bottom.

Key words are still important for all the other engines. So I would still leave all you can. Its just google has diminished thier value for google search.

I do have a Splash page. But can the "essay" in hidden form or have to be visible? Thanks.

Search engines typically penalize hidden text and tricks of that sort. Ex, white text on a white bg. I'm not sure about hiding text under an object with css or something like that...probably not a good idea though.

Hmm, you can't just add text where it says "Edmonton Wedding Photographer". I don't really know anything about blu domain...do they have any sort of ftp access or file manager or is it all template/control panel based?

Yes they do have a control panel but I cannot modify the splash page except add photos.
But I have ftp access that I can upload files. Can I make up a html page and upload to the ftp? THanks

Yep google has really clamped down on this just lately.

You'd need to be able to call the html file index.htm and change the name of the first page and all the link back to the home page. when a browser accesses a public folder on a web server it will display the file called index.html - if your can rename the flash page (or existing index.htm) and upload a html called index into the same folder then link the splash enter screen to the renamed flash page you should be ok..

:)

He should be able to just edit the existing index.htm if he just wants to add some text (save a backup copy of course)...though there is probably some template code to work around.

But it hasn't stopped the OP's competition from doing it. Check out the 1st result in Google for "edmonton wedding photographer": here (external link). Let me give you a hint: scroll to the bottom.

I'm not sure google would consider that cheating (and it must not if the page is ranked so high), because the text is technically visible.

Also, in case you want to see where you currently are in relation to everyone else do a search for 'google PR checker' and type in your domain name. PR is the page rank, 1-10. That's what determines what page you show up in the search that you match keywords with other sites.

Thank you for all you guy 's input, I learned alot! Ok, I scroll all the way down to the bottom of the page... so I assume you are talkin about those adwords...etc? Or something else, sorry I know I am not very smart on this
