I snapped this of my son over the weekend and sort of liked the shot (in spite of his squinting ;) ). I thought about cloning out the metal dock pole behind him but could not make it look right. I am still trying to learn photoshop. Is the pole overly distracting?

***Edited to add another shot (different shot/different angle) without the dock post. CC welcome

Thanks so much :) That shirt was not white long once he discovered there were minnows under the dock LOL.

Cute... You missed focus very slightly, but still great.

I don't know if you could have retreated a bit to give him more room in which to sit (so we can see more of the deck and background).

Nice kid, nice clothes, nice location.

Thanks Pete for your nice comments and great feedback.

We happened upon this location by accident while walking through a local park- it was a good find, we'll have to go back. Unfortunately the dock was fairly narrow so there wasn't too much room to spread out much. I was using the 50mm and to be honest am often struggling to get the focus to hit just right many times. I shot this in AV mode and had the aperture set at 3.5- perhaps I needed to increase that a bit to get more of him in focus?
