I've had it happen a couple times with no problems. I used a hairdryer on LOW setting.

Put it in some rice, add some chopped carrots, some scrambled egg, celery, a little pork chop and soy sauce and you have some good Sandisk fried rice. :)

Ok, seriously, what’s with the rice? Leave it in the sun for a day or four. Then try it. If it works, you got lucky, if it doesn’t, well back to the fried rice. :)

Dry it out under a low heat for a while and there's quite a fair chance that it will be ok.
They're amazingly resilient.

This is what you get when you go messin with things like washers. You know, no good deed goes unpunished.

Hope it works out

People have put their CF cards through a lot worse. Give it a chance to dry out and it'll likely be fine...

Rice is a quick replacement for silica. It absorbs moisture. I've just started carrying my cards in my jeans, with the summer being to hot to carry a bag around. I hope I remember this thread. :)

SlowBlink, you said something that triggered a thought. Does anyone keep those little silica bags that show up in the equipment packaging? Those just might work for helping to dry out "things that got wet" in emergency cases. They don't take that much room, and a couple/three of them would fit in the kit bag easily...

Runs off to the trash can to retrieve....

I lost a CF card in a blender of Margaritas. It did not survive mostly due to the fact that the blender was on at the time.

 sounds like a good time, minus the late CF card of course ;)

I've heard rice works to dry stuff out. I've also hear the top of a fridge helps, something about the heat drying it out . Not tried that one, but some folks swear by it.
Good luck!

**edit to add that I'm not sure if the heat would be to much for the CF card, I've heard it used for cell phones!

I keep a couple in my bag. I usually leave them with the lenses. I replace them with newer ones as they come in.

I am not sure if they help or not. But it doesnt hurt having them in there.

Popular Photography magazine did a test with a few popular CF card brands where they loaded the same photographs on each card and washed & dried them on different cycles. I think I remember that they found that all of the cards still worked and only a couple of the cards showed image deterioration.

Don't sweat it. I've washed a card and a USB jump drive and both of them still work great. I put them under a lamp, left them for a few days, and all was well. Just don't put anything under a halogen lamp to dry though, you'll melt it (found that out the hard way )
