Refraction on compund eyes

Didn't take this shot but I thought you guys would like it. Makes a case for carrying around a mister next time you're in the garden.

I'm wondering if he misted it with water before the shot. I can't imagine it flying around like that.

Perhaps it's morning dew? I've found it hard getting droplets like that with a mister.

imho, I think its one kind of a luck to be able to take such a shot provided its taken as it is. Just like the chances of seeing a UFO Splendid shot!

I SWEAR I've seen the image in a magazine. I'm wanting to think Discover, or Smithsonian, and on the first couple of pages.... Now I'm going to have to look through back issues.

Such a fantastic photo.

I love shooting dragonflies and I think this has inspired me to do some early morning shots, (If i can find any dragonflies this summer)

I did look through back issues, and I found it on page four of my May issue of Discover magazine. In the June issue, it credited the photographer. I remember getting the issue and being in awe of the photo.
