Perplexed about setting date in pix

I have an SX100 as a personal and we have a A520 as a work / office camera(both Powershot models) and one thing seems to be hanging me up on the use of date/time being included in the picture.

No matter what I do or try for settings, the date/time option remains ghosted in the menu. I have tried many things to get this feature to work. The manual offers no help for either camera.

Anyone have any idea? We need to turn this on for many pix as they are submitted to customers.

Thanks

That's odd! What a stupid restriction... I have been a Canon user for over 35 years and this is my first digital from them. I also have an HP R818, which is a great little pocket camera.

Any other digital camera that I have used (not necessarily owned) has allowed this feature in ANY size image. If this is really the case, then Canon has lost some serious stature in my opinion.

I have been looking at a Canon EOS 5D. If they have this restriction on this model, I would certainly like to know now! Is this some design flaw or brain cramp by the Canon engineers?

Right click on the image, select properties, go to summery tab, click on advance and you will get the date!

I have an SD600 and find that I can only have the date imprinted in the Postcard view, also.

There is very little written in the user guide (or even here in the forum) about the Postcard view - what it is, when to use it, etc. I want to have the date imprinted but don't know what restrictions the Postcard view will impose.
