Hi Jimmy welcome to the forum :)

I like the composition of the first one, and it has a nice mood.
I'd like to see more color and contrast in there though.

And sorry to act all Moderator on you, but please take a moment to read the image posting rules at the top of all of the Image sharing forums.
You'll note there was a reason you could only attach two images in your first post.
Your "workaround" has been removed.

Thanks for understanding.

thank you for your reply

by more colour; do you mean more light to get the colour of the trees, water, and sky or do you mean edit the picture to show the colours more vibrantly

p.s. sorry for the inconvenience

Hi Jimmy, nice work. You'll find the best colour will be just as the sun is setting and for a little while after. To capture this you'll need a tripod, a remote shutter release and a time exposure. You should find that this will give you a lot more detail in your pics.

Bob. :D

Canon 5D, 350D, lots of patience and a sack of other stuff.

+ Nutural Density and Graduated Filters are a Big Big help in situations like these as they allow alot more control over the light distribution in the scene.
Dont know if holders are available for an S5 but you can hand hold them if the camera is on a tripod.

Nice composistion in the first shot.

I see you shot no1 at 1/800th f4 and ISO80
Don't know the S5 personally but normally for a landscape you would close down the apature to get a much bigger depth of field say f16 in a shot like this it would sharpen up the entire shot.
A graduated filter is also a favorite of landscapers becuase it allows you to darken the sky whilst the bottom part of the filter (clear) remains lighter getting a vertical balance in the picture.
In this picture the land is considerably under exposed campared to the top part of the sky. it is still a nice shot but some of its impact is lost due to this, you and the S5 actually did rather well considering the lens is pointed straight at the sun.
I wouldn't say your biggest problem is lighting, i would say every photographers biggest problem is lighting.

sadly the S5 only has minimal aperture of F8 (unless there is option I am missing)

in shot no1 would it have been better to change the iso to 200?
the shutter speed to 1/250th ? or both

The S5's aperture limitation of f/8 is not as bad as it sounds, f/8 is giving the DOF of a much smaller aperture as the real focal length is ridiculously wide, (like 7mm or something)
ie @ 7mm f/8 has as much DOF at the same distance as a 35mm stopped MUCH further down.

Too get the shutter speeds longer, neutral density filters can be used, or even polarizers.
